Dear SPS Member,
The Summer issue of the SPS Observer and the Journal of Undergraduate Research (JURP) will now appear online. They can be accessed through spsoberver.org and jurp.org. The Fall, Winter, and Spring issues of the Observer will continue to be published on paper.
The theme of this Summer Observer electronic issue, continues that of the Spring 2002 issue, light. We begin with "The Book of Lumen," an imagined account of how the King James scholars of 1611 might have

told the history of optics, some of whose significant discoveries were contemporary with their work. We continue with familiar sections labled "Elegant Connections," "Hot Science," "Society News," and "SPS Programs."
We hope you enjoy both our print and electronic media. Please give us your thoughtful feedback on our new electronic ventures.
